Antimicrobial Stewardship |
Antimicrobial resistance represents an existential threat to the global healthcare system in an era of declining research and development of novel antimicrobials. Antimicrobial stewardship is a coordinated program that promotes the appropriate use of antimicrobials (including antibiotics), improves patient outcomes, reduces microbial resistance, and decreases the spread of infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms. Faculty within this discipline are leading research efforts to identify new health delivery approaches to combat antimicrobial resistance and improve patient outcomes. |
