Pain/Opioids

The number of Americans with chronic pain outpaces diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, and cancer combined. The great number of patients with pain and the continued presence of the opioid epidemic only highlight further the need for a strong pharmacy presence in research, education, and practice. Clinical pharmacy services are offered to patients in the acute and ambulatory setting, including acute pain, chronic pain, and palliative care. The aims of the pain/opioid research group is to improve the safe and effective use of analgesics, including opioids, for patients suffering from pain.
