Dr. James Moon has been selected to receive the 2014 New Investigator Grant in Pharmaceutics and the Pharmaceutical Technologies sponsored by the American Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences (AAPS) for his contribution to the field of pharmaceutical sciences.
Dr. George Garcia Receives New Grant for Drug Discovery Research

The Center for the Discovery of New Medicines has awarded its third round of grants, providing funding to eight projects from labs across U-M. Dr. George Garcia, Professor and Chair of Medicinal Chemistry and Director of Interdepartmental Program in Medicinal Chemistry, has been selected as one of the eight recipients of project funding.
Dr. Rajesh Balkrishnan Visits Shandong University in China

Dr. Rajesh Balkrishnan, PhD, recently took a trip to Shandong University, Jinan, China, which has excellent schools of Public Health and Pharmacy. Dr. Balkrishnan is currently Associate Professor of Social and Administrative Sciences at the U-M College of Pharmacy, as well as Associate Professor of Health Management and Policy at the School of Public Health.
Dr. Karen Farris Appointed Interim Chair of Department of Clinical, Social, and Administrative Sciences

Based on input from CSAS faculty and our other administrators, Dr. Karen Farris has been selected as interim chair of the Department of Clinical, Social, and Administrative Sciences at the U-M College of Pharmacy for a one-year term, effective August 1, 2014. The appointment of Dr. Farris was approved today by the U-M Board of Regents.
Dr. Duxin Sun Appointed College’s First William I. Higuchi Collegiate Professor

Dr. Duxin Sun has been named as the College of Pharmacy’s first William I. Higuchi Collegiate Professor.
With the approval from the Regents of the University of Michigan, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Duxin Sun as the College’s first William I. Higuchi Collegiate Professor. His term is effective September 1, 2014 through August 31, 2019.
Dr. Hae Mi Choe Receives APhA Foundation 2014 Pinnacle Award

Dr. Duxin Sun Serves as Co-Investigator of Oncology Study

Researchers at the University of Michigan School of Nursing and Comprehensive Cancer Center have received a $2.3 million grant to study oncology nurses’ exposure to hazardous drugs, including identifying ways to reduce exposure.
Dr. Gregory Amidon Elected as AAPS Executive Council President-Elect

New Mobile Application Developed for Heart Failure Patients

The U-M Frankel Cardiovascular Center Heart Failure team, which includes Dr. Mike Dorsch, Dr. Barry Bleske, and Todd Koelling, recently created a mobile application for the education of heart failure patients.
Dr. Scott Larsen Receives 2014 Collegiate Research Professorship Award

Dr. Scott Larsen, Research Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Director of the Vahlteich Medicinal Chemistry Core facility at the College of Pharmacy, has been selected as the 2014 Collegiate Research Professorship Award recipient.
