Dr. Rajesh Balkrishnan, PhD, recently took a trip to Shandong University, Jinan, China, which has excellent schools of Public Health and Pharmacy. Dr. Balkrishnan is currently Associate Professor of Social and Administrative Sciences at the U-M College of Pharmacy, as well as Associate Professor of Health Management and Policy at the School of Public Health.

Invited by Professors Sun Qian and Xiaojie Sun at the Shandong University Center for Healthcare Management and Policy, Dr. Balkrishnan conducted a 2-day workshop on Comparative Effectiveness Research. This workshop was attended by over 30 masters and PhD level students.

"The UM-College of Pharmacy is increasing its international presence and leadership in many areas of education and research, and China represents an important opportunity for broadening our collaborations and international presence," states Dr. Balkrishnan.

In addition, Dr. Balkrishnan met with officials at the Shandong Province Ministry for Health and discussed methodology related to performing effectiveness evaluations on a cancer registry project funded by the Chinese government. Shandong University is a top tier research institution with a strong research focused medical center looking for active collaborations in multiple areas related to public health and pharmacy research.
