Jerod Nagel, PharmD, clinical specialist in infectious diseases at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health System, along with Anna Kempke, PharmD, PGY1 pharmacy resident, have been recognized at the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC) for their research related to antimicrobial dosing in obese patients and associated cost savings.

Graduate Students Form New Student Organization

The College of Pharmacy Graduate Student Organization (COPGSO) was formed in March 2014 not only to represent graduate students at the College, but also to provide a forum for fostering interdepartmental scientific discussions within the College.

“I was drawn to the PDI component in the Michigan curriculum after researching PharmD programs. The PDI project fulfilled my intellectual curiosity while I pursued my passion in pharmacy,” states Henry Tran, PharmD'16.
“At Michigan, student pharmacists are trained in evidence-based medicine courses to ensure efficient navigation and understanding of primary literature,” states Henry Tran, PharmD’16. This is only part of Tran’s perspective as a student at the U-M College of Pharmacy. Tran discusses the College’s first annual Science Day, which has been renamed to Research Forum for next year, and the PharmD Investigations Project, which is a unique component of the Michigan curriculum.
College’s SNPhA Chapter Receives the SNPhA/Rite Aid Chapter Excellence Award

The College’s SNPhA Chapter has recently received the SNPhA/Rite Aid Chapter Excellence Award in the small chapter category.

Student Research Efforts Support Clinical Practices in Africa

U-M College of Pharmacy students worked with local Kenyan pharmacists and pharmacy technicians at Consolata Hospital.
Dr. Vicki Ellingrod, along with three P2 students, Charlotte Buckley, Craig Michael, and Emily Van Wieren recently returned from Meru, Kenya, where they spent 4 weeks understanding the practice of pharmacy in Kenya, as well as how their educational programs are structured for pharmacy education.
