“We are proud to be able to attract highly motived and quality members, despite being one of the smaller organizations within the College of Pharmacy,” states David Dadiomov, PharmD’16, president of the College’s SNPhA chapter.

The College’s SNPhA Chapter has recently received the SNPhA/Rite Aid Chapter Excellence Award in the small chapter category.

The College’s SNPhA chapter consists of only 49 members. Although this membership is open to high school students and undergraduates, current membership includes only College of Pharmacy students and is promoted internally. The chapter also has committee chairs that serve under each of the 6 national initiatives (immunizations, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, legislation and voting, smoking cessation/stroke prevention), as well as a chapter delegate who represents them at national and regional meetings.

“We are proud to be able to attract highly motived and quality members, despite being one of the smaller organizations within the College of Pharmacy,” states David Dadiomov, PharmD’16, president of the College’s SNPhA chapter.

Criteria to receive the SNPhA/Rite Aid Chapter Excellence Award consists of community service and mentorship in underserved communities, conference attendance, partnerships with other universities, participation in national initiatives, and a chapter presentation describing their creativity, community involvement, and impact.

The award was presented at the national conference on July 20, 2014.  Along with the award, the College’s chapter won $5,000.

The College’s chapter plans to use the awarded funds to increase membership, further their role in completing national initiatives, and further develop a new initiative to promote asthma-related education in underserved population.

"The generous funding provided by the COP for SNPhA members to attend national and regional conferences plays an integral part of our members further developing their passion for SNPhA by allowing them to connect with other SNPhA members around the country and gain new leadership experiences," states Jinny Min, PharmD’16.

Current leadership amongst the College’s SNPhA chapter consists of 6 executive board positions:

  • President: David Dadiomov
  • President-elect: Chivonne Gammon
  • Vice President: Angela Rondon-Begazo
  • Secretary: Laura Cwengros
  • Treasurer: Alena Wu
  • Event Coordinator: Hanna Welch

“Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!” ends Associate Dean Nancy Mason, BSPharm’76, PharmD’81.
