A welcoming ceremony for new students to honor the beginning of their pharmacy education.

    Larry Wagenknecht is currently completing his 34th year with the Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPA) in Lansing, Michigan. Wagenknecht was appointed MPA Executive Director in 1986 prior to being named as CEO.  Wagenknecht received his B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy in 1979 and is a licensed pharmacist and pharmacy preceptor in the state of Michigan.  Wagenknecht serves as Adjunct Clinical Faculty for the colleges of pharmacy at the University of Michigan and Ferris State University. Wagenknecht currently serves as a Commissioner of the Prescription Drug and Opioid Abuse Commission and Chairman of the Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services Board. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board and a member of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Primary Care Consortium. He has also served as the 2000-2001 President of the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA), and served as Secretary and Governor of the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy Board of Governors. He has also served on numerous other committees and task forces with the State of Michigan, Michigan Patient Safety Commission, Michigan Health Information Technology Commission, Michigan Society of Association Executives, American Pharmacists Association and National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations. Wagenknecht has also served in many key leadership positions with University Lutheran Church in E. Lansing, MI and with Troop 97 of the Boy Scouts of America in Haslett, MI.

    After Ceremony:

    • Group photo will be taken on the steps of Rackham immediately following the ceremony.

    PARKING
    The Thayer Street parking structure will be available for visitors on White Coat Ceremony day. The structure is located at: 300 S. Thayer Street.

    The Thayer, Fletcher, and Palmer Structures will be open beginning at 1:00 pm.  Please note that at the Palmer Structure only the UM Employee Blue parking area is available.
