Nour Kadouh
Congratulations to 4th-year student Nour Kadouh, who has won the 2021 Exemplary Student Award.

Nour Kadouh, P4, has won the 2021 Exemplary Student Award, presented by the Southeastern Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SMSHP). Nour was presented with award during a virtual ceremony on November 10.

“Nour is one of the most ambitious and driven students I have met in my 16-year career in academia,” says Jolene Bostwick, PharmD’04, Assistant Dean for Co-curriculum and Professional Development and Clinical Professor of Pharmacy. “Nour is constantly seeking additional opportunities to gain experience in practice, research, and service. Our work together goes beyond expectations required from our rigorous program, indicating her drive and motivation toward her professional development.”

Nour graduated from the University of Michigan-Dearborn with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Biological Sciences in 2018. During her time at the U-M College of Pharmacy, Nour has been involved in the Leadership Scholars Program, American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists and Pharmacy Student Ambassadors. She was selected as a 2021 AACP Walmart Scholar, where she learned more about academic pharmacy and networked with professionals from across the country. 

“Post-graduation, I plan to join a residency program, with the hopes of pursuing a career in academia and specializing as a clinical pharmacist in the future,” explains Nour. “I hope to be able to help, teach and inspire students in the same way that I have been during these past three and a half years.”

Nour, Dean Bostwick, and John Clark, PharmD, Clinical Associate Professor of Pharmacy and Director of Pharmacy Services, Michigan Medicine, are currently developing a leadership elective for our PharmD students. “Through the process of creating the leadership course, Nour scoured the literature, identified leadership topics already covered, met with various stakeholders, identified gaps and opportunities, and proposed a topic outline,” notes Dean Bostwick. “Beyond this, she thoughtfully considered the course format, potential instructors, created assignments, including a course project, and is currently working on developing the content for each week. We will be offering this course starting January 2022 thanks to her tremendous efforts.”

“Nour is a shining example of what students can achieve through hard work, initiative, and dedication,” concludes Dean Bostwick. “I am beyond privileged I have had the opportunity to serve as a mentor and collaborator. I have no doubt she will be a future pharmacy leader.”

SMSHP is the regional association representing pharmacists and related personnel associated with organized health-care settings.  Their mission is to represent its members, provide leadership, provide membership services, foster safe and rational drug use in society, and serve as a catalyst for practice innovation enabling members to better serve the public interest and the profession.
