Service and Outreach
The University of Michigan Student-Run Free Clinic is dedicated to providing quality health care free of charge to uninsured community members, while creating opportunities for University of Michigan students and faculty to confront health disparities through direct action. Pharmacy students directors provide administrative support while fourth year pharmacy students on ambulatory care rotations engage in interprofessional patient care at the clinic. Amy Thompson and Sarah Vordenberg serve as co-advisors for this program.
Hope Clinic offers medical and dental care, food, social work services, and spiritual support through their Ypsilanti and Westland clinics. Pharmacy students volunteer in the medical clinic to help patients obtain affordable medications. Jolene Bostwick coordinates student involvement with this community organization.
The College of Pharmacy seeks to increase accessibility and uptake of vaccinations at the College of Pharmacy and community-based organizations such as the Ypsilanti Famer’s Market and local churches. Heidi Diez, Kristin Klein, and Caitlin Ferguson lead these efforts.
