Live the #Pharmlife Campaign Launches to Bring Greater Understanding to Pharmacists’ Roles, Big Ten Pharmacy Schools
The University of Michigan College is Pharmacy is excited to announce the launch of the Live the #PharmLife initiative, aimed at increasing awareness of the diverse and rewarding careers Big Ten pharmacy school graduates enjoy.
Participating schools include The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy, Purdue College of Pharmacy, Rutgers University Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, UIC College of Pharmacy, University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, University of Michigan College of Pharmacy, University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy, and University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy.
The campaign encourages prospective students to explore the varying careers available to those with a PharmD degree and the unique advantages that Big Ten pharmacy schools offer to students considering pharmacy. A PharmD degree can open many doors – a fact some prospective health sciences student do not know. There is a wide variety of career options where PharmD graduates make an impact—advising patients as the medication expert in a community setting or health system clinic, advancing the development and understanding of new drugs in the biotech industry, or applying evidence-based medicine to improve population health.
“We still see the pervasive public perception that pharmacy is simply counting pills, which couldn’t be further from the truth,” says Jim Dalton, PhD, Dean of the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. “Pharmacy professionals play an essential role in healthcare, providing immense positive impact. Big Ten schools of pharmacy are uniquely able to prepare students for this dynamic field.”

“We heard from many students that information on the pharmacy school application process was not easy to find during their school search,” explains Dean Dalton. “They also struggled to identify the criteria to consider when choosing the best school for them. We see our collective strengths – relationships with academic health centers, top researchers and clinicians as instructors, robust alumni network, immense scholarship support, and more, as factors that set our students on a variety of successful paths.”
