Three Faculty Awarded Grant for Transforming Learning for Third Century Initiative
Creates Access to Decision Simulation Software
Congratulations to Vicki Ellingrod, Barry Bleske, and Tami Remington. These three faculty have been awarded a Transforming Learning for Third Century (TLTC) Quick Wins grant. The title of their proposal isA Virtual Translational Step from Class Room to Real World.
With the funds from this proposal, we will be providing all students access to the Decision Simulation software for 2 years.
Faculty will be able use this software to create real word patient cases. This software is a cloud and mobile-based platform designed specifically to enhance and assess decision-making by our students which leverages the educational value of simulation. Faculty can easily create their own patient case simulation using user friendly tools.
These cases can then be used in the classroom setting, as well as outside the classroom setting, which will allow students to improve their ability to make effective and appropriate decisions in the clinical environment. These simulations can help us as educators meet the demands of changing healthcare delivery models, reduce errors and better utilize new evidence-based approaches.
“We are very excited about the possibilities of using this software as part of our curriculum. Although the use of this software will primarily be within the therapeutic series, its use can be expanded to all aspects of our pharmacy student’s education,” states Associate Dean Bruce Mueller.
Faculty that are interested in being one of the first users of this software should contact Vicki Ellingrod, or attend one of the informational sessions to be held this summer.
