Rachel Lebovic (pictured on left) and Marilyn Jen (pictured on right) finished 2nd overall in the national Clinical Skills Competition!

Each year, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) holds a Clinical Skills Competition where teams of 2 students evaluate a patient case and develop a written pharmacist’s care plan. The top teams from the written competition then defend their recommendations in front of a panel of judges. Each school holds a local competition, the winning teams are sent to compete in the National Clinical Skills Competition at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting in December.

This year, P4 students Marilyn Jen and Rachel Lebovic represented the University of Michigan in the National Competition, competing amongst a record-number 124 teams. Marilyn and Rachel finished 2nd overall in the National Competition! The patient case this year was one of the most challenging in the history of the competition.  Not only is this the highest finish for a UM team in this competition, but they are also the first team from U-M to place as one of the Top 10 Finalists.
