The College values a holistic approach to admissions; this means that we take into consideration every experience each applicant brings to us to review. 

All applicants that submit a completed application are evaluated by the criteria listed below (not ranked or ordered).  The Applicant Academic Ranges and Averages table displays the academic make-up of previous applicant pools.  We encourage all students that fall within these ranges and who possess these criteria to apply to the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy:

  • Successful completion of prerequisite coursework
  • Overall GPA (no minimum)
  • Math/science GPA
  • Recommendation letters
  • Ability to communicate in writing as evidenced by written essays
  • Ability to communicate verbally as evidenced during the admissions interview
  • Life and work experiences
  • Critical thinking and decision making skills
  • Previous health care patient experiences, volunteerism, shadowing
  • Leadership ability/experiences
  • Desire to make a difference in the lives of others

*Please note that the PCAT is no longer required. You may want to consider taking it if your overall GPA and/or science GPA are below a 3.0, your prerequisite courses were taken 5+ years ago, and/or your grades are trending downward.
