Pharmacy Participates in Second Annual Health Professions Education Day
The 2nd annual Health Professions Education Day took place on June 1 at the University of Michigan. Educators from across the health science professions on all three campuses – Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint- shared educational innovations and best practices during a poster session, followed by a keynote address from Dr. Jean Nagelkerk, Vice Provost for Health at Grand Valley State University. The event wrapped up with panel of students from multiple schools and disciplines both in Flint and Ann Arbor discussing their experiences in interprofessional education as well as advice for future endeavors.
Over 200 faculty, staff, students and alumni participated in the event. There were over 65 poster presentations focused on interprofessional education (IPE) experiences underway at Michigan, as well as a wide range of educational topics including the following themes: learner autonomy, entrustment, and feedback, novel IPE pedagogies, peer to peer teaching and learning activities, learner wellness and resilience, patient centered care, and pipeline programs to bring learners into the health professions.
During the lunch session, a focus group of Health Professions Educators also met together to consider ways to continue the development of IPE experiences for University of Michigan students.
