COP Participates in Pharmacy Day at the Capitol
Pharmacists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians from around the state came together at the Capitol in Lansing, Michigan to educate law makers and the public about the services pharmacists provide, the education pharmacists receive, and state and national legislation affecting pharmacy interests.
Pharmacists and student pharmacists hosted a medication take-back, gave immunizations, and performed point of care examinations such as blood pressure readings, Hepatitis C. and cholesterol/lipid screenings, and blood glucose testing. Pharmacists and student pharmacists had a chance to interact with law-makers and communicate their value as health care professionals.
The event was organized by the Michigan Pharmacists Association. Students from Ferris State University, Wayne State University, and the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy participated in the day’s events. Two U-M COP student organizations, the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists and the Student Michigan Pharmacists Association, helped facilitate the College’s student involvement.
