UM-HSP Students Raise Money for Relay for Life; Hosted Third Annual Art Auction
The University of Michigan Health System Pharmacists Student Organization hosted their third annual art auction last Friday. Attendees included students, faculty, staff, friends, and family. This year, the event also welcomed alumni.
A silent auction took place all night, where guests enjoyed a wine tasting, delicious appetizers, and gazed over approximately 65 pieces of art donated by our students, faculty, staff, friends, and family members. A majority of the pieces were also created by our students.
“I was pleased to see so many alumni there networking with our students, and I am amazed at the talent of our students. The event was a wonderful success!” boasts Associate Dean Nancy Mason.
The U-M Men’s Glee Club made an outstanding performance just prior to the live auction, where they had guests clapping and singing along.
“It was a wonderful event to showcase the amazing talent from the student body. The event was a great success, and everyone enjoyed it. I'm glad that we had this great opportunity to contribute to Relay for Life," stated Lamanh Vu, PharmD’15, and Ruixin Shi, PharmD’16.
The students raised $4,800 for Relay for Life, a 60% increase over last year’s donation.
A special thanks goes out to the U-M Men’s Glee Club for their performance, Campus Inn for the hospitality, the Wine Castle for their donations, Richard Walls, PharmD’14, for hosting the live auction, artwork donors, faculty & staff for their attendance, and all those who volunteered to make this event such a success!
