ALDH Inhibitors as Cancer Differentiation Therapy

We have identified novel ALDH inhibitors that deplete ovarian cancer stem cells. It is unclear the mechanism by which this occurs. We will generate distinct ALDH inhibitors with stem cell promoting or depleting activity. We will then evaluate the impact of these inhibitors on stem cell survival and differentiation in single cell microfluidic culture. The most effective compounds will be moved into animal studies. We have identified novel ALDH inhibitors that deplete ovarian cancer stem cell pools. It is unclear the mechanism by which this occurs. Together with Dr. Larsen we will generate distinct ALDH inhibitors with stem cell promoting or depleting action in vivo. We will then work with Dr. Yoon to evaluate the impact of these inhibitors on stem cell survival and differentiation in single cell microfluidic culture. The most effective compounds will be moved into animal studies.
