Congratulations to Douglas Parr, PharmD'91, who has earned the Pharmacist of the Year award from the New Hampshire Pharmacists Association. Dr. Parr is being recognized for a sustained record of service and leading an an effort to establish a COVID-19 clinical study in only seven days.

Dr. Parr served in the Navy as a hospital corpsman who attained Second Class Petty Officer's rank, leaving service with an honorable discharge, and earned his PharmD from the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy with a Doctorate in Pharmacy. Dr. Parr has worked for over 29 years in the field of pharmacy, primarily in the hospital setting. He joined Dartmouth-Hitchcock in 2008 in hematology/oncology. In 2012, Doug transitioned to Investigational Drug Services, providing pharmacy support to patients enrolled on clinical trials. He is an integral part of investigational studies at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Dr. Parr led an effort to establish a COVID 19 clinical study in only seven days. This remarkable feat involved pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in setting a 24-7 on-call schedule to ensure the pharmacy could prepare and supply the medication regardless of the time of day. These efforts translated into eligible patients receiving the investigational drug, greatly assisting clinicians during an unprecedented time in our history.
