PharmD Student Named PQA-CVS Health Foundation Scholar
Jenish Patel, a 4th year PharmD student, has been selected as a 2016 PQA-CVS Health Foundation Scholar. The Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA), in collaboration with CVS Health Foundation, offers this scholarship to support projects centered on quality-related initiatives. The scholarship program, in its inaugural year, aims to encourage, promote, and improve education surrounding quality measures and value-based models of care.
Scholars will design, implement, and present a project related to quality measurement or improvement with the help of a mentor familiar with the quality landscape. Jenish will work with Dr. Kim Moon from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan to implement a quality improvement initiative centered on sedative-hypnotic use in the Medicare population.
The program provides an opportunity for Scholars to attend the PQA Leadership Summit in November and present the results of their project at the PQA Annual Meeting in May. The PQA-CVS Health Foundation Scholars Program will launch September 1, 2016 and extend through May 30, 2017. It will recur on a yearly basis, coinciding with the general academic calendar.
