The Precision Medicine World Conference (PMWC), held annually in Silicon Valley, is coming to Michigan for the first time this June 6-7. The 14th PMWC will be held at The University of Michigan Ross School of Business.

Vicki Ellingrod, PharmD, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education, John Gideon Searle Professor of Translational Pharmacy at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy, is the chair of this event.  Also on the program committee is Gil S. Omenn, PhD, MD, Professor of Computational Medicine & Bioinformatics, Human Genetics, Molecular Medicine & Genetics, Public Health and Harold T. Shapiro Distinguished University Professor. 

PMWC provides a unique forum for the exchange of information about the latest advances in technology (e.g., DNA sequencing technology), in clinical implementation (e.g., cancer and beyond), research, and in all aspects related to the regulatory and reimbursement sectors.

Speakers include U-M Pharmacy alumnus Kevin Kwok, PharmD’86, Davis Phinney Foundation, who will discuss, “My Personalized Journey with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease.” Anna Schwendeman, PhD, Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the U-M College of Pharmacy will present on novel delivery of precision medicines.

PMWC 2018 Michigan coincides with launch of Precision Health at the University of Michigan, which integrates U-M’s strengths in medicine, engineering, pharmacy, and public health.  This initiative brings together biomedical expertise, big data, and the social sciences enabling a comprehensive approach to providing patients with tailored health solutions.
