Sarah Teare, community development director of the Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley, accepts hand sanitizer from the MICHR Community Engagement Group in partnership with the College of Pharmacy

Pharmacy faculty member Vicki Ellingrod’s lab has been filling the shortfall by making hand sanitizer for local community organizations. They have created 165 gallons, which will help keep our essential community workers safe.

The Michigan Institute for Clinical and Health Research (MICHR) Community Engagement group helped identify and has delivered 90 gallons of hand sanitizer to over 30 community organizations. The organizations serve the counties of Clare, Isabella, Washtenaw, Livingston, Genesee, Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb.

The community organizations include Meals on Wheels, local food pantries, public health and transit authorizes, the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and more.
