Each year, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) compiles a list ranking NIH/Federal Funding awards, which compares Colleges of Pharmacy across the country. The College evaluates its research success through several key indicators, this ranking being one of them.

We are pleased to note, for the second consecutive year, the U-M College of Pharmacy was ranked 10th among all Colleges of Pharmacy. This is our highest ranking since 1998.

“Unfortunately, AACP no longer compiles the funding per faculty measure, which accounts for the relative size of the institution. Since we are one of the smallest Colleges in the country among research intensive Universities, I am confident that our ranking in that category would be much higher,” states retiring Dean Frank Ascione.

The number of grants submitted for the 2013-2014 academic year reached an all-time high of 180, compared to the previous high of 137. Eighty-eight of these were to NIH, which presents another all-time high for the College.

“With such a high number of submitted grants, I think we will continue to experience future success. Congratulations to our faculty who devoted the time and effort in writing grants, as well as the staff that facilitated the process,” ends Dean Ascione.
