Dr. Paul C. Walker Elected to ASHP Board of Directors
Paul C. Walker, PharmD, FASHP, was elected to serve on the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Board of Directors. Dr. Walker will begin his three-year terms in June 2018.
“It is such an honor to be elected to serve on the Executive Board of ASHP,” says Dr. Walker. “I’m passionate about our profession, about ASHP, and its role in advancing pharmacy practice. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the work of the Board.”
Dr. Walker is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and the director of Experiential Education and Community Engagement at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. He is the manager of Pharmacy Patient Outcomes in the Department of Pharmacy Services for Michigan Medicine. He received his BS in pharmacy and his PharmD from Wayne State University, in Detroit, and completed his residency in pharmacy practice at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Detroit Medical Center. He also completed a specialty residency in pediatric pharmacy practice at the University of Tennessee and Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center, Memphis, Tenn. Dr. Walker is involved in didactic and experiential education of students and currently coordinates and teaches in several pharmacotherapy courses for pharmacy students and advanced practice nurses; much of his teaching focuses on drug therapy in children.
Dr. Walker has served as Chair of the ASHP Committee on Nominations and was a member of the Commission on Affiliate Relations and the ASHP Foundation Donor Retention Subcommittee. In 2017, Dr. Walker was also selected for the second cohort of U-M’s Interprofessional Leadership Fellows.
