Speaker Bio: Steven A. Scott, Pharm.D.

Steven A. Scott, Pharm.D., is Director of Alumni Engagement in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Purdue University College of Pharmacy.  He received his BS in pharmacy and doctor of pharmacy degrees from Purdue University in 1976 and 1978, respectively, and then completed a hospital pharmacy residency at St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing, Michigan.  Dr. Scott’s first academic appointment was at the University of Houston and then he assumed a faculty role with Purdue University at the IU Medical Center in Indianapolis.  Following seven years of clinical practice in pediatrics, he moved to the main campus in West Lafayette where he practiced in both adult medicine and long-term care.  Dr. Scott has served in numerous administrative roles in both the department and college, most notable admissions, curriculum (chair for 10 years), and assessment committees. Current teaching and scholarly interests include dermatologic therapeutics, geriatric and men’s health issues, programmatic and individual student assessment, and enhancing leadership development in students. He has been heavily involved in the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy throughout his career, serving as faculty delegate on eight occasions, on numerous committees and task forces both in the Council of Faculties and the Pharmacy Practice section.  Dr. Scott was elected to the Board of Directors (2013-2019) and served as chair of the Council of Faculties (2014-2015) and was elected to the position of president-elect in which he currently fulfills and will assume the role of AACP President in July 2017.
