Charles W. Hastings, BSPharm’76, is the proprietor of Northline Sav-Mor in Southgate, Mich., where he has been employed for 38 years. Hastings served on Sav-Mor’s advertising board for six years (1986-1992) and has been a member of Sav-Mor’s executive board for the past 19 years. From 1983 to 1989, he also was president of Prudential Drug Company. He is currently involved as a clinical detailer in the Michigan Pharmacist Association (MPA)/First Health Clinical Detailing Program, the Michigan Medication Therapy Management (MTM) Services Task Force, and the MPA Third Party Committee.

This spring, Hastings opened a clinical pharmacy that operates on an MTM therapeutic model. Hastings was elected to the MPA Executive Board in 2001, serving in this capacity for three years. In 2007 he was elected to a one-year term as MPA president. That same year he received a Pharmacy Leadership Award from the National Community Pharmacists Association. He is a member of the American Pharmaceutical Association and the Wayne County Pharmacists Association.

As a College of Pharmacy student, he received the University James B. Angell Scholar Award from 1972 to 1975, and received the College’s Lilly Achievement Award in his senior year.
