Hedva Barenholtz Levy, PharmD'90, has been named the president-elect of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) and will start her term as president November 2021. 

Dr. Levy founded HbL PharmaConsulting in 1995 to promote the safe and effective use of medications among all persons, but particularly with a focus on older adults. She is actively involved in educating patients, caregivers, senior service providers and other professionals, both locally and nationally, about medication use issues and other pharmacotherapy topics.

She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Michigan in 1990. Dr. Levy went on to complete a Clinical pharmacy residency at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida (now called UF Health Shands Hospital). Dr. Levy has been a board certified pharmacotherapy specialist since 1992 and certified geriatric pharmacist since 2002. 

Before becoming ASCP's president-elect, Dr. Levy served on its Board of Directors from 2013-2017. She also received the society’s Senior Care Pharmacist Award in 2013.
