Gordon S. Dean, PhD'58, died November 18, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Kathryn MacEwen. 

Dr. Dean graduated from Dedham High School in 1948. He earned a BS and MS degrees from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1952 and 1954, respectively. He then received an MS in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy in 1956. He was awarded a Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 1958 under Dr. F. F. Blicke.

He was employed in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries for the next 25 years in research, sales, marketing, development, and production. He served as a VP of marketing and a VP of manufacturing and as well as a board member. He eventually became an entrepreneur. He founded Toxicity Research Laboratories in Muskegon, MI.

Dr. Dean was a life member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association, the American Chemical Society, a former member of the Society of Toxicology and The New York Academy of Sciences.
