Pharmacy 476 is a 2-credit, P2 year course. This introductory course in research and proposal writing is designed to give students an overview of scientific study design and experience in hypothesis and specific aims development. The course objectives are accomplished through didactic lecture and small-group and individual assignments. Each student writes a brief research proposal that follows a similar format to the PharmD Investigations proposal. In addition, students present their research proposals to both faculty and peers in a poster/abstract format.

“This experience advances our students’ critical thinking, analytical reasoning, writing, and verbal presentation skills, which are essential to every pharmacy career path, not just to those in research,” states Kathleen Stringer, PharmD, Professor, Department of Clinical, Social, and Administrative Sciences.

This year's poster presentations took place at Palmer Commons on April 21, 2014. A special thanks to Dean Ascione and Dr. Bruce Mueller for their support.

“Science and scholarship is a very important to our program. This exercise is on the student’s first experience at presenting research ideas. It is great to observe how well they performed in this role," ends Dean Frank Ascione.
