[Ann Arbor, Michigan] – U.S. News & World Report has released its latest rankings for best pharmacy schools in the nation, and the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy remains among the very best, ranked the #3 pharmacy school in the United States and continuing its position as the #1 pharmacy school in Michigan and the Big10.
This year’s ranking marks more than 12 years of sustained excellence, with the College consistently placing among the top three pharmacy schools nationally since 2014. U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on peer assessment surveys from academic leaders at accredited Doctor of Pharmacy programs across the country, evaluating the quality and impact of each institution.
“Remaining in the top three pharmacy schools, out of more than 140 in the country for more than a decade speaks to the strength and consistency of our program. Being awarded a top position for this long is not something we take for granted, especially given the larger size of our peer schools,” said Dr. Vicki Ellingrod, Dean of the College of Pharmacy. “Our faculty, staff, students and alumni continue to push the boundaries of research, education and patient care, ensuring we are not only maintaining excellence, but shaping the future of pharmacy.”
The U-M College of Pharmacy continues to distinguish itself through a combination of innovative research, interdisciplinary education and real-world impact. From advancing drug discovery through emerging technologies like artificial intelligence to developing care models that improve patient outcomes nationwide, the College remains at the forefront of pharmaceutical science and practice.
The PharmD program offers small class sizes, hands-on clinical experiences within Michigan Medicine and a highly collaborative learning environment. For more than 50 years, the College has required PharmD students to complete a research project, equipping graduates with the skills to solve complex healthcare challenges and lead across a wide range of career paths.
“What sets our College apart is our ability to prepare our students for anything the future of healthcare demands,” Dean Ellingrod added. “Whether they pursue careers in clinical practice, industry, research or policy, our graduates leave ready to be the healthcare changemakers of tomorrow.”
In addition to the PharmD program, the College offers PhD programs in Clinical Pharmacy Translational Science, Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, as well as a Master of Science in Integrated Pharmaceutical Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences — each designed to train the next generation of leaders in drug discovery, development and delivery and patient care.
As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, the U-M College of Pharmacy remains committed to being a center for pharmacy excellence in education and research, positively impacting healthcare for all.
