[Ann Arbor, Michigan] — The College of Pharmacy is proud to announce that Professor Olayinka Shiyanbola has been named a fellow within the Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM).
This fellowship demonstrates a commitment to advancing the science and practice of behavioral medicine. SBM is made up of a breadth of healthcare professionals dedicated to behavior science.
“Because this organization is very interdisciplinary and made up of behavioral science professionals across the spectrum, to be recognized with fellow status as a pharmacist means a lot to me,” stated Dr. Shiyanbola. “Being a part of SBM offers me a broad perspective on behavioral science theories and methods that I can use in my own research.”
Her current research is focused on diabetes management in patient groups who have poor outcomes and developing interventions to improve medication use. She is the author of more than 85 publications and more than 220 scientific presentations including invited talks, symposiums and seminars.
This SBM fellowship is not only a recognition of Dr. Shiyanbola’s hard work but an opportunity to mentor early-career investigators.
“What’s special about this fellowship is the leadership opportunities that come with it. Having fellow status allows me to make connections and make an impact on the next generation of behavioral scientists,” Dr. Shiyanbola remarked.
Dr. Shiyanbola’s fellowship was officially announced at SBM’s Annual Meeting on March 27. You can read more about it here.
The College of Pharmacy congratulates Dr. Shiyanbola on this well-deserved recognition!
