[Ann Arbor, Michigan] — The College of Pharmacy is proud to announce that Holly Jablonski, Associate Director of Administrative Services, has been awarded the
University’s Candace J. Johnson Award for Staff Excellence. This award recognizes the contributions of University of Michigan staff members who exemplify the values of excellence, generosity and compassion.
“Receiving the Candace J. Johnson Award is an incredible honor, and I am deeply humbled by this recognition,” remarked Jablonski. “More than anything, it speaks to the wonderful colleagues I’ve had the privilege to work with—people whose kindness, dedication and passion have left a lasting impact on me. Their support and collaboration are what make our work so meaningful and rewarding. I am deeply grateful to be part of such an inspiring community and excited for all that we will continue to accomplish together.”
Holly joined the College of Pharmacy in 2015 as an executive secretary, and in her nearly ten years of service, has been promoted four times. Today, she manages large projects, including the development and implementation of our College Strategic Plan and the project management of our new building, in addition to managing administrative services and resources, including her creation of many innovative administrative tools that she shares with others to increase efficiency.
“On any given day, Holly may work with construction crews, interior designers, architects, new faculty, staff and administrators like myself, and she shows a deep respect to whomever she is working with,” explained Dean Vicki Ellingrod. “She takes on challenges and is able to identify creative solutions to complex problems.”
“Holly has garnered ongoing praise from both internal and external colleagues for her can-do attitude, and always produces high-quality work despite a heavy workload and multiple priorities,” said Holly’s direct supervisor Pennie Rutan, Administrative Director.
For Holly’s colleagues at the College, it’s her generosity, patience and integrity that make her stand out.
“Her interactions with colleagues, faculty and staff are marked by respect and care, fostering a positive workplace culture,” remarked Dr. Robert Cichewicz, Department Chair and Professor of Medicinal Chemistry. “Holly approaches others with respect for all backgrounds and experiences, creating a nurturing and supportive work environment.”
Holly’s award was celebrated at a reception on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 co-hosted by the Provost’s Office.
