Letter from the Dean: August 2021

August 25, 2021

Dear alumni, students, and friends,

After eighteen months of virtual classes, meetings, and social gatherings – we are so excited to be back in our building and to have our community interacting in person again. In an effort to stop the spread, the University of Michigan announced that it would require all staff, students, and faculty to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and I’m proud to say the College of Pharmacy is (nearly) there. While we need to remain prudent and we have our health and safety protocols in place, we are planning on having a close-to-normal year.

I want to take a moment to thank our faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends who all helped us figure out these last months. Your patience and resourcefulness are the highlights of my interim term as dean. Speaking of that, the Provost has appointed a search committee – the hunt for the next dean has started! I have agreed to stay on until the new dean starts their term.  Good luck to the committee!

We will not have an in person homecoming gathering this Fall, but we are working on ways to connect the classes who otherwise would have reunion years. I do hope to see many of you as I walk around the tailgates at Michigan Stadium this fall.

I am so pleased to give a great big welcome to the PharmD class of 2025, our new Graduate students and our new BSPS students!

Go Blue!

Bruce A. Mueller, PharmD, FCCP, FASN, FNKF
Interim Dean and Professor of Clinical Pharmacy
