History

The student chapter of International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research/Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (ISPOR/AMCP) combines students from two organizations into one chapter, and was formed in April 2000. The mission is to expose students to non-traditional pharmacy opportunities in research, industry, managed care, consulting, and other settings, as well as increase student knowledge of pharmacoeconomics and health outcomes research. The student chapter serves as a bridge between students interested in the economics of medications and students interested in population health and public health policy.

ISPOR/AMCP at the University of Michigan is truly multidisciplinary with members and preceptors drawn from the pharmaceutical industry, health care organizations, government, public health policy, and epidemiology.

ISPOR

The International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) is an international research organization that promotes the science of health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) . The core goal of this organization is to use data to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and equity of healthcare decision making. With 13,300 members worldwide and more than 950 student members, ISPOR provides education regarding best practices for health economics and outcomes research across the globe.

AMCP

The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) is a national organization focused on improving population health and public health policy through more responsible and effective medication use. Our student chapter is involved with many pharmacists at Blue Cross Blue Shield, Healthplus, and other health plans in Michigan. We encourage student networking through our Etiquette Dinner, and real world skill building through our P&T competition. Both events are held during the Winter semester.
