Kristin Klein, PharmD, named Distinguished Fellow of the National Academies of Practice
March 7, 2024
The College of Pharmacy is proud to announce that Kristin Klein, Clinical Professor of Pharmacy, has been named a Distinguished Fellow of the National Academies of Practice in Pharmacy.
The National Academies of Practice (NAP) is an alliance of healthcare professionals collaborating to transform health and well-being and dedicated to supporting affordable, accessible, coordinated, quality healthcare for all.
To be selected as a Distinguished Fellow, candidates must have ten years of exemplary service in a career committed to interprofessional practice and accessible, affordable healthcare for all. Applicants are judged by distinguished peers, and make selections based on candidates having made significant and enduring contributions to their profession.
Dr. Klein’s selection for this high honor recognizes her outstanding pharmacy and interprofessional care achievements. As a clinical pharmacist specialist at Michigan Medicine, she works with (the often) large healthcare teams to coordinate the typically complex care of adult cystic fibrosis patients. Additionally, she researches ways to modify treatment protocols in an effort to improve care and optimize outcomes.
She also leads the College’s BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences Program, overseeing curriculum and admissions and teaching two of our therapeutics courses. She doesn’t stop here, she also has a research area that focuses on advancing the models for teaching and learning.
Finally, she is active in vaccine advocacy. While serving as president of the Pediatric Pharmacy Association, she led a grassroots initiative to change laws so pharmacists in all 50 states would be allowed to vaccinate children.
NAP members believe that close collaboration and coordination with different healthcare professions, aligned through a shared vision, can advocate for patients and be a model of excellence in interprofessional and preventive care. Dr. Klein’s clinical practice, teaching, and research activities all attest to this pursuit of excellence and commitment to the NAP mission.
She will be recognized among the Class of 2024 honorees in an induction ceremony on March 16, 2024 at the NAP Annual Meeting & Forum.
Congratulations to Dr. Klein on this well-deserved honor. Go Blue!
