Lab and Research Overview
Members of the Manzor Research Laboratory and the LABSCO steering committee (established by Dr. Manzor in 2018) are dedicated to improving personal health literacy, eHealth literacy, and clinical outcomes for underserved populations with chronic diseases. To achieve this, our team conducts research, publishes findings, and uses this knowledge to improve clinical and humanistic outcomes and drive legislative changes. The lab’s current objective is to promote legislative actions requiring access to easy-to-understand medication information for anyone receiving a prescription medication from any US community pharmacy.
Current research interests include:
- Collaborative drug therapy management for depression using telehealth services to improve antidepressant use, patient engagement, and clinical and humanistic outcomes
- Type 2 diabetes management for underserved primary care patients provided by a clinical pharmacist
- Access to easy-to-understand prescription medication information for everyone
- Health literacy and eHealth literacy of underserved patients with chronic disease using teach back, shared decision making, and clinical monitoring
