3MT: Three Minute Thesis Competition Grad Student Sign Up
Time: 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Location: Palmer Commons
What is 3MT?
Can you describe your research in three minutes, using simple terms to people with no background in your research area (like your parent, roommate, or neighbor)? If so, then this competition is for you!
Compete against your classmates, make it to the final round, and win money!
Following registration, you will be contacted with full rules and the resources needed to participate.
Who can participate?
For the first round, participants are split into two groups:
2nd and 3rd year PhD students + 3rd term MSIPS students
4th and 5th year PhD students
If you proceed to the final round, you will compete with all eligible competitors!
First-year PhD and MSIPS students are not eligible to compete but are encouraged to volunteer to help with the event!
What are the prizes?
1st Place: $2,500
2nd Place: $1,000
3rd Place: $750
People’s Choice Award: $1,500
