Prior to the ASHP Mid-Year Clinical Meeting and Exposition in December, U-M College of Pharmacy alumnae attended the pre-meeting workshop for new and existing PGY two programs entitled Residency Learning System.

Suprat Wilson, PharmD’08, Christie Schumacher, PharmD’08, and Brook DesRivieres, PharmD’06, MSPharm’08, all attended a workshop aimed at preparing residency program directors and preceptors to meet the requirements for the design, delivery, and evaluation of training specified in the ASHP Accreditation Standard for Pharmacy Residency Programs through use of the Residency Learning System (RLS).  Participants worked on the design of their own residency programs. The workshop included practical, hands-on experience in applying each of the nine steps of the RLS.

“Of a group of about 30 attendees it was not surprising to see such excellent presents from University of Michigan alumni! It was great to catch up and learn and grow from each other," states DesRivieres.

Wilson is currently Residency Program Director for a PGY2 in emergency medicine at Detroit Medical Center. Schumacher serves as Primary Preceptor for a PGY2 in ambulatory care at Midwestern University. DesRivieres has been voted in by ASHP Board of Directors as the RPD for PGY2 in health system pharmacy administration at Ministry Healthcare in Wisconsin.
