The U-M student chapter of AAPA is a community-oriented, non-profit organization that coordinates numerous events throughout the school year, consisting of community outreach, health clinics, educational events, service opportunities and fundraisers. AAPA’s mission is to design and deliver outreach initiatives and educational services to support and enrich our local communities. AAPA is also dedicated to fostering strong communities through social events.

The members of the AAPS student chapter at the University of Michigan are given an opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the field of pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, pharmacogenomic, proteomic, bioinformatic and drug delivery research. The AAPS student chapter strives to provide its members with an opportunity to interact with people in academia and industry and thus help them learn more about the function and organization of industry and academia as well as make useful contacts. Besides the academic enrichment, we also encourage social events that help develop a bond between the chapter members who come from diverse backgrounds but are currently working in related areas of research. Further, we work towards promoting pharmaceutics as an area of research amongst undergraduate and graduate students from other disciplines.

This student organization is affiliated with the American Chemical Society Division of Medicinal Chemistry. The organization’s purpose is to: encourage professional development and service; provide the means and opportunities for social, recreational and other activities; and increase awareness of Medicinal Chemistry as a research field and career option. The group is open to any graduate or post-doctoral fellows at the University of Michigan in Medicinal Chemistry or related fields. Members and officers of this organization must be members of the ACS Medicinal Chemistry Division.

American Pharmacists Association (APhA) is the largest and oldest professional association of pharmacists and the largest association of student pharmacists in the United States. The Association is a leader in providing professional information and education for pharmacists and student pharmacists and an advocate for improved health of the American public through the provision of comprehensive pharmaceutical care.
U-M’s chapter approaches this mission by becoming a platform that lets students apply their learning in community outreach events and advocacy, enriching everyone’s education experience in the College, and establishing connections with other pharmacists and student pharmacists.

HSP-UM is an organization recognized by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). HSP-UM represents students interested in hospital residencies and health-system pharmacy. The mission of HSP-UM is to make students aware of pharmacy practice in health systems and provide information to students about career directions and credentials needed for pharmacy practice in health systems. The organization offers career development opportunities through networking with residents and pharmacy preceptors, education about pharmacy careers through pharmacist/resident panels and monthly focus groups to learn about different specialties.

IPhO’s mission is to give pharmacy students the resources needed to successfully land a pharmaceutical industry fellowship and career after pharmacy school. It is the only organization that utilizes its e-board’s experiences and knowledge to help members obtain pharmaceutical industry internships. Additionally, IPho hosts speakers from the pharmaceutical industry talk about their careers and give insight on how to become a successful industry pharmacist.

The student chapter of the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research/Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (ISPOR/AMCP) combines students from two organizations into one chapter. The mission is to expose students to non-traditional pharmacy opportunities in research, industry, managed care, consulting and other settings, as well as increase student knowledge of pharmacoeconomics and health outcomes research. The student chapter serves as a bridge between students interested in the economics of medications and students interested in population health and public health policy.

The Multicultural Pharmacy Student Organization (MPSO) is a student-led organization that focuses on advocating for the awareness and appreciation of different cultures, ethnicities, and identities as well as promoting a suitable climate within the College of Pharmacy that supports diversity, equity and inclusion. MPSO frequently collaborates with other organizations that share a similar vision and recognizes the need for combined efforts in fostering an inclusive and celebratory environment both within the College of Pharmacy and beyond.

Pharmacy Christian Fellowship (PCF) exists for the central purpose of glorifying Jesus Christ in pharmacy education and practice. Its members are an interdenominational group open to people of all religious backgrounds. PCF strives to provide activities for the refreshment and encouragement of members, prayer and meditation on scripture, education and discussion of current issues in pharmacy, service and missions, and networking with Christian health professionals.
Phi Delta Chi is a national professional pharmacy fraternity that promotes and fosters brotherhood and leadership among its members to advance the field of pharmacy. The first chapter was founded here at the University of Michigan on November 2, 1883. Now, there are more than 80 collegiate chapters across the country.

Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS), also known as the national Pharmacy Leadership Society, was first established as an honorary society in 1965 to both recognize and promote a culture of strong leadership within the profession of pharmacy. Members, selected through peer recognition, are chosen for having proven a commitment to the advancement of the profession through demonstrated leadership.
LittleVictors is a College of Pharmacy (COP) volunteer student organization and a student group recognized by its national organization, the Pediatric Pharmacy Association (PPA). It is comprised of elected board members and general members from the student body of the University of Michigan (COP) committed to improving the health of children. One of the main efforts of the group will focus on advocating for health education through philanthropic events.

Pharmacy Student Ambassadors (PSA) is a student-initiated volunteer organization that targets its efforts towards making the admission process as exciting and welcoming as possible. Its mission is to help prospective students by serving as a resource for their questions prior to and during application to the program. Some of the activities of the organization are assisting with include student interviews, pre-pharmacy student panels and volunteering for college open houses/tours.
Pharmacy Student Government Council (PSGC) is the COP’s official student government organization. Its members advocate for student needs, are liaisons between the students and administration, work on projects to improve student life, and serve on the Honor Council. This organization builds leadership and communications skills and allows students to be a part of the constant change and improvements at the College.
The Rho Chi Society is an academic honor society in pharmacy. The mission of the society is to encourage and recognize excellence in intellectual achievement and foster fellowship among its members. Initiates to Rho Chi include those achieving a GPA within the top 20% of the pharmacy class after the first three semesters of pharmacy school.
The Student Michigan Pharmacists Association (SMPA) is an affiliated chapter of the Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPA) that promotes engagement in and activism for the profession. MPA’s vision is for its members to be an influential force in developing health policy and optimizing patient health, safety, and medication management.
Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) is an educational service association of pharmacy students who are concerned about pharmacy and healthcare related issues, and minority representation in pharmacy and other health-related professions. The purpose of SNPhA is to plan, organize, coordinate and execute programs geared toward the improvement of the health, educational and social environment of the community.
