Role Overview and Bio

Education:

Oakland University – Master of Business Administration

University of Michigan – Bachelor of Arts

Expertise:

I have been an administrative leader at both the University of Michigan and Wayne State University for two decades. During that time I served in the Dean’s Office of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics housed within the School of Medicine, and the Office of Financial and Human Resources at the College of Pharmacy. My work experience has included management of budgets, human resources, faculty affairs, faculty start-up, academic degree programs, academic seminars and retreats, procurement, grant proposals and awards, facilities, expense reimbursements, development, marketing, and information technology. I have had the opportunity to work with leaders and to build relationships with professional and academic administrators at every level, practicing and implementing values of collaboration, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Additionally, I have enjoyed my opportunities to build close relationships with faculty members and department chairs, providing support in business related topics such as personnel, financial, and operational management. Through these partnerships with my academic colleagues, we have strengthened existing programs and departments, and in many cases created new research and academic opportunities within our institutions. Through these collaborations we paved the way for future generations of students, faculty, staff, scientists, and clinicians to have even greater success.

My work record includes reorganizing processes and procedures, creating new personnel positions or reassigning existing job duties, and establishing workflow that makes sense and serves the interests of students, faculty, staff, scientists, and other constituents. I work with staff to ensure they feel valued, are clear about job expectations, take ownership of their positions, and are in a position to be successful contributors to the organization. This approach has fostered organizational success throughout my career. Of course, that success did not only belong to me. I have been a member of great teams and was fortunate to be in a position of leadership. I am grateful for my opportunities to learn from and work with others, provide mentorship and direction, and to gain new perspectives and share successes.
