Michelle (Shelly) Hawkins, BA

My 24+ year career at the University, in various levels of financial rolls, started at the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, in January, 1999.  From there I spent more than 4 years in Medical School Administration, Finance, working for the Deans office on various financial and capital projects (Cardiology Center, Kellogg Eye Center, BMT floor expansions, new Mott Women's and Children's Hospital, etc.).  I found a part time job in finance, so I could spend more time with my children, and spent almost 10 years in Internal Medicine's Allergy and Immunology division.  I worked for various Internal Medicine departments in addition to my regular appointment during that time.  I have been full time again for about 8 years. I worked in the Health Management Research Center, in the School of Kinesiology, for 3 years and helped to decommision the Center in an overload capacity.  My last Internal Medicine position, was in Hematology Oncology, the largest Internal Medicine Division, in the Medical School.  I helped streamline many processes and took on many new roles for my position before leaving pre/post-award Research Administration to come to the College of Pharmacy.

Overall Role

Assist with the functions of financial reporting, monitoring, budgeting, and internal controls processes.
