American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Founding Member Harvey A.K. Whitney Jr, an internationally known educator, editor, publisher, and leader in the profession of pharmacy, died April 10, 2018. The son of Harvey A.K. Whitney Sr, founder of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists (now the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists), he received B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy and completed residency training at the University of Michigan Hospital. He served in leadership roles at Duke University Medical Center, University of Texas and Southwest Regional Poison Center, St. Louis College of Pharmacy, four St. Louis area hospitals, and University of Cincinnati. In 1967, he became the assistant editor for Drug Intelligence, the first journal devoted to clinical pharmacy, now the Annals of Pharmacotherapy, and then served as its editor and publisher for almost 30 years.

Whitney received many honors and awards, including the ACCP Service Award (now the Robert M. Elenbaas Service Award) in 1982, and was a mentor for countless students, residents, and young clinical pharmacists. He is survived by his wife, Tina, and his daughters Lisa and Kim and their families.
