The College welcomed Christine Humblet, PhD, from Lilly Research Laboratories in Indianapolis, IN, during the Seventh Annual John G. Topliss Award Lecture.

The Department of Medicinal Chemistry at the College of Pharmacy recently presented the Seventh Annual John G. Topliss Award Lecture, “Transforming Drug Discovery through Predictive Sciences: Computational Chemistry and Cheminformatics at Lilly,” featuring Research Fellow, Christine Humblet, PhD, from Lilly Research Laboratories in Indianapolis, IN. The award is named for Emeritus Professor of Medicinal Chemistry, Dr. John G. Topliss. Dr. Topliss has been affiliated with the University of Michigan for 32 years.  Prior to that, Dr. Topliss was the Director of Chemistry at Warner-Lambert/Parke-Davis in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from 1979-1983 and was Vice President of Chemistry from 1983-1992.

Dr. Humblet joined Parke-Davis in Ann Arbor, MI in 1984.  From an individual Research Scientist practicing computer-aided molecular design approaches to multiple discovery projects, she expanded roles and responsibilities to scientific management and leadership positions. Dr. Humblet held similar positions with Abbott and Wyeth before joining Lilly in 2011, where she leads the global computational chemistry and cheminformatics groups.

Previous John G. Topliss Award Lectures have featured William L. Jorgensen, PhD (2014),  Paul S. Anderson, PhD (2013), Ronald Breslow, PhD (2012), Brian Shoichet, PhD (2011), A. K. Ganguly, PhD (2011), and Richard Silverman, PhD (2009).
