Speaker Bio: Scott J. Fisher, PhD

Scott Fisher is currently the Director of Corporate Strategy and Senior Fellow at Medidata Solutions, which is the leading global provider of cloud-based, software as a service, solutions for clinical research. Medidata is transforming clinical development through its advanced applications and intelligent data analytics.

He is a leader in the translation of therapies from concept to clinic and a product development professional with operational experience covering all clinical trial phases in multiple therapeutic areas. As a proven team leader with strong organizational, technical and interpersonal skills, Scott has successfully built and managed a number of cross-functional clinical teams.

As a Scientist, Scott was part of the team that developed ABRAXANE, the first FDA approved, non-cremophor formulation of paclitaxel for the treatment of breast cancer. He has a broad background in drug development and clinical research in biotechnology, medical devices, and small molecules at companies like Juventas Therapeutics, Boston Scientific and Boerhinger Ingelheim. He is an advocate for the advancement of regenerative medicine and has spearheaded global development of novel therapeutics from pivotal trials and approval and commercialization to deliver first- and best-in-class therapeutics and devices.

In academia, Scott was named the inaugural Rathmann Biotechnology Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Maryland for his work on novel antimicrobials. He has also been awarded Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Awards for Individual Pre-doctoral Fellows (NRSA) from the National Institutes of Health and was a visiting Fellow at the University of Tennessee – Memphis in the laboratory of Dr. RK Rao. He is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi, Rho Chi, and Beta Beta Beta National Honor Societies. While at Ohio State, he founded the local student chapter of AAPS.
