Put Clinical Skills to Work at Know Your Medicine, Know Your

On Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, 25 University of Michigan PharmD students took part in a College-hosted community service event: Know Your Medicine, Know Your Pharmacist. The event, held at the Turner Senior Resource Center in Ann Arbor, was part of national American Pharmacists Month.

The faculty advisor for this project was Tami L. Remington, PharmD, clinical associate professor at the College of Pharmacy and clinical pharmacist at the Turner Geriatric Clinic.

Student leaders for the project included: P-3 Josh Bayer; and P-2s Theresa Bomer, Rachael Ng, and Joyce Ting. PGY2 resident Shawna Vandekoppel, PharmD’06, also lent a hand, offering a refresher course for students participating in screening services.

Under Remington’s supervision, students conducted lipid, glucose, and blood pressure screening; cardiovascular risk.
