alt Associate Professor Vicki Ellingrod

Vicki Ellingrod, PharmD, associate professor of pharmacy in the College’s Department of Clinical Sciences and in the University’s School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, was one of two College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacist (CPNP) members appointed to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Scientific Council. This marks the first time pharmacists have been appointed to this renowned research body. Ellingrod, who currently serves as chair of CPNP’s Research Committee, believes that pharmacist membership on the council will help highlight both the research being done on the treatment of mental illness as well as the important role of the pharmacists in conducting this research.

Her own research employs pharmacogenomic strategies to improve pharmacologic treatments for mental illness. “As part of our appointment, we will be expected to provide NAMI with a summary of our research program, which will increase the visibility of pharmacogenomic strategies to improve medication management and clinical outcomes,” Ellingrod says.
