Carrie Nemerovski, PharmD’07, receives the
Albert B. Prescott Scholarship Award from
Dean Frank J. Ascione. The Prescott Scholarship
Award, named in honor of the College’s
first dean, is bestowed upon the graduating
PharmD student with the highest grade point
average.
Associate
Professor of Medicinal Chemistry Heather Carlson receives
the 2007 Teaching Excellence Award from Dean Frank J. Ascione.
Carlson, who has been at the College since 2000, teaches
Medicinal Chemistry 411 and 534 to PharmD students and is
the primary instructor for a graduate course in drug discovery.
In 2005, she received the NSF Career Award and the College’s
Student Appreciation Award for Excellence in Teaching.
U-M Rho Chi Society President Stephen Stout, PharmD’07, congratulates P-3
Mychael C. Ackerman, one of 14 new Rho Chi initiates inducted
into the Society at the College’s April 5 Recognition and Awards
Banquet. Rho Chi, pharmacy’s only academic honor society, began at U-M. The
first chapter was chartered by the State in 1922. There are now
87 active chapters throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
Marissa Waldman, PharmD’07 (right), first recipient of the Kristen L.
McGlone Research Award, with family members of the late Kristen
McGlone, PharmD’06, at the College’s April 5 Recognition and
Awards Banquet. Following Kristen’s tragic death last August, the
McGlone Award was established in Kristen’s memory by family and
friends. The award will be presented each year to a P-4 student who
has demonstrated excellence in research, reflecting Kristen’s own
talent for research. Waldman’s award-winning research project, “Students’
Performance and Appreciation of Internet-based Instructional
Technology Applications in Pharmaceutical Analysis Laboratory
Course,” was conducted under the direction of Mustapha Beleh, a
faculty member in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry. Pictured
